How to get to Nokia and Tampere region
Tampere region is in southern Finland some 170 km north of Helsinki, the capital of the country. Both domestic and international travel connections to the region are excellent by air and by land.
By air
There are several daily flights from and to Helsinki, and Tampere also has direct flight connections with Stockholm (Sweden), Riga (Latvia), Frankfurt and Bremen (Germany), London (UK), Milan (Italy), Edinburgh (UK), Malaga (Spain) through Ryanair, Finncomm (domestic Finnair), Blue1 and Air Baltic.

By train
Tampere is only about 1.5 hours away by train from Helsinki and trains go at least every hour if not more during rush hours. If arriving into Helsinki, you can take a taxi or a bus from the Helsinki-Vantaa airport to Tikkurila railway station which is about 20 minutes closer to Tampere than the Helsinki downtown railway station. The railway station in Tampere is located in the heart of the city, at the eastern end of the main street within easy walking distance to most hotels.

By car
Renting a car from the airport is always an option. With GPS navigation, finding your destination should be easy.
By sea
Finland is also easily reached by sea from Stockholm, Travemünde, Rostock, Gdansk, Tallinn and St. Petersburg. Ferry services from Sweden and Germany are provided on luxurious liners with first-class restaurants. There are good train and bus connections to Tampere direct from the ferry terminals.
Getting to Nokia Eden
To get to Rantasipi Eden using the public transportation, you can take Paunu bus lines 70 and 71 from in the Tampere Central Square. It runs 2-3 times per hour, journey time 30-60 min. The stop is called Nuijamiestentie and it is about 300 meters to the hotel. Adults 4,80 € each way.

Alternatively, you can always take a taxi. Taxis are usually waiting outside the railway station or you can call one at +3581004131 (Aluetaxi). A taxi from the railway station to hotel Eden would cost approximately 30-40€.

Weather in Tampere region
During the conference it is fall in Finland and the temperature is mild with a high of +14 degrees Celsius and a low of +7 C.
In general, the mean temperature in Finland is several degrees (as much as 10°C in winter) higher than that of other areas in these latitudes, e.g. Siberia and south Greenland. The temperature is raised by the Baltic Sea, inland waters and, above all, by airflows from the Atlantic, which are warmed by the Gulf Stream.

Finland
Finland (Finnish name Suomi) is a parliamentary republic which became a member of the European Union in 1995.
Its population is around 5.4 million, with the majority concentrated in the southern part of the country. The capital, Helsinki, has around 580 000 residents. Finland is an advanced industrial economy with metal, engineering, electronics industries forest products as its main industries. Finland is one of the leading countries in Internet use. Today, there are more mobile phones than fixed network subscriptions.
Aside from being home to corporate giants such as Nokia and Metso, it was recently listed as the second best innovation hot spot in the world by Harvard Business Review (Kao 2009), and consistently ranks near the top in the World Economic Forum’s competitiveness index. Much of this is attributed to Finland’s intensive funding into the national innovation system and strong educational sector. In terms of sustainability, Finland topped the list in Yale’s sustainability index ranking in 2005 (Esty et al. 2005). Just recently, the country ranked 1st in the 2009 Legatum Prosperity rating, which is based on economical performance and quality of life.
